I didn't think it was the most sensible option to run on slippery pavements, as they were a mixture of slush and ice, not the most stable surface! I was especially glad that I didn't risk it as I nearly slipped over just walking to the station.
So after a quick rethink, I decided to hit the gym to run on the treadmill. I didn't want to miss out on my run totally, considering I have been terrible at training for this half marathon so far. I don't really like running on the treadmill, especially for anything other than speed sessions/interval training. I find it so dull, although I tried distracting myself with morning TV this morning.
The gym was so empty! Why can't I take normal self portrait photos?
I set out trying to run at a 9ish min mile pace. I want to speed up my running, and I figure that by getting my body used to running at that pace on the treadmill it might automatically run that fast outside?!
Unfortunately, the snow (or any 'extreme' weather) seems to bring London to a standstill, so I got to the gym a little later than planned. I ended up only running 5K- I ran 1mile at 10.3kph, then walked at 6.4kph for 1min, and repeated three times.
I'm looking forward to running outside, it feels easier and there is so much more to distract me. 60 Minute Makeovers was not enough!
Sweaty but pleased to have got a run in this weekend!! Hope you all had a good one.
Do you prefer running outside or on the treadmill? I really want to find a track somewhere to do some speed workouts! Anyone know any in West London?
